Fifth Grade: How did New York help shape the history of North America?
This series of programs connects the history of the Western Hemisphere to the history of New York. The first four sessions place the early interactions between native peoples and colonists in a broader historical context, which culminates in examining the international connections and implications of the American Revolution.
In the latter half of the series, students consider the interplay between New York, the nation, and the Western Hemisphere at large in the late 19th century. At the end of the series, students will work in teams to create a timeline of the city of New York that demonstrates everything they learned.
