In conjunction with our new exhibition World War I Beyond the Trenches, we’re commemorating the 100th anniversary of America’s official entry into the First World War by bringing New York in 1917 to life! Every Saturday and on select Sundays this summer, stop by the Museum to meet different personalities from the home and warfronts of the United States a century ago. Each week is different—you might discover the uniforms of army doughboys, run into a famous leader, or march with suffragists!

Join us on our final Saturday to meet American soldiers with a special detachment of French troops from WWI! Portrayed by historical reenactors from the Long Island Living History Association and the 151ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne, the troops will share stories about early 20th-century life on and off the battlefield—including how French soldiers helped train US soldiers right here in NYC! Explore their colorful uniforms, discover how the allied forces’ clothing and gear adapted to the battles, and find out how soldiers ate in the trenches with rations and mess gear!

Check out our Family Calendar to discover each Centennial Saturday’s or Sunday’s special theme!
